…”we’re painting the roses RED!” If you’ve seen the 1950’s version of Alice In Wonderland before then there is NO way that you read that title without singing it. 🙂 Growing up it was always one of my favorites, so imagine my delight when my 5 year old daughter Emmaline fell in love with it and decided she wanted to be Alice for Halloween this year. Score!
I am kicking off the first model call with a search for high school juniors or seniors in the Loudoun County area that are interested in receiving a complimentary photo shoot as well as a $200 credit that can be applied to their images (no purchase required). The photo shoot will be held at my studio in Round Hill and possibly some outdoor locations as well. Hair, makeup, and wardrobe consultation will be included.
I will be putting out a series of model calls over the next month or two as an effort to update my portfolio with new faces while at the same time getting a chance to meet my community. For each model call I will have a specific genre/theme in mind and will select the recipient(s) based on their fit with my vision.
If you are selected for a model call you will be gifted a complimentary photo shoot as well as $200 towards the purchase of any prints/files, although no purchase is required. My sessions include hair and makeup, a wardrobe consultation, a personalized photo shoot with coached posing, and an image reveal session where you view the images and select only the ones that you love. In exchange all I ask is that I am able to use the images for future promotional marketing for Alaina Forshee Photography.
I will be announcing the first model call in the next few days so be sure to follow my blog or one of my social media accounts so that you don’t miss out!
Our recent move to Virginia should have been a nightmare for a planner like myself considering the fact that we had to do everything remotely from 650 miles away. Enter my real estate rock star, Erika Potter of RE/MAX.
I was introduced to Erika by a mutual friend and she ended up being nothing short of invaluable when it came to our move. She not only helped us determine what area of Virginia was right for our family but she was always available to answer every little question and concern that I had (and believe me, there was no shortage in that department).
How fitting was it that Erika was my very first client in the new studio space in the house that she hand-picked for us?
On June 31st my family and I said goodbye to our home in Peachtree City, Georgia and made the all-night drive to our new home in northern Virginia. The decision to move was bittersweet but my husband was offered a federal career that we just couldn’t refuse. After extensive research from afar and with the help of our amazing realtor (shout out to Erika Potter of RE/MAX) we found the perfect house in the quaint little town of Round Hill, Virginia.
The next few months that followed were relentlessly busy with the opening and unpacking of boxes for a family of seven, assembling furniture, transferring records, registering for schools, signing up for extracurricular activities, updating vehicle tags and licenses…..anyone that has moved out of state before knows about the chaos that’s involved.
Now here we are in October (my FAVORITE month, I might add) and things are finally slowing down to the point that I can begin to focus on one of my first loves: photography.
I created my business in 2007 and for the most part it has always been a part-time endeavor. I began a career as a 911 dispatcher in 2003 but now, after almost 17 years on law enforcement, I have decided to for once turn all of my attention to photography.
